A free, ad-supported digital network, commonly known as CW Seed, has announced the procurement of non-exclusive streaming rights of 14 BBC Studios series. Rick Haskins, CW’s EVP of Marketing and Digital Platforms made this announcement recently.

BBC Studios is a global content company that makes 2,500 hours of content per year, with two production units operating in Los Angeles and Brazil. It is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC.

CW Seed is available in Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Xbox, Android, iOS, Chromecast, and CWSeed.com, with no obligation to subscribe, login, and authenticate.

According to the new deal, CW Seed will bring along 200 episodes and 150 hours of quality scripted content or series, where viewers can avail the free streaming and ad-supported platform. The second-window deal was introduced in response to on-demand service in 2013. It highlights the possibility of adding live, linear channel by year’s end.

The shows that are already live on CW Seed include The Secrets of Crickley Hall, starring Tom Ellis and Maisie Williams; The Intruders, starring Millie Bobby Brown and Mira Sorvino; Bedlam, starring a pop star, Will Young; Atlantis, starring Mark Eddy (an actor on Game of Thrones), and Sinbad, an adventure series.

Streaming of additional shows is likely to begin in late January and roll out through the month of February. The series include award winning comedy series, Gavin and Stacey by James Corden; House of Cards; and The Fades, featuring Daniel Kaluuya from Get Out. Apart from these, The Primeval, Robin Hood, Hyperdrive, Bleak Old Shop of Stuff, Married Single Other, and The Deep are to be included in the list of CW Seed’s series streaming.

Digital linear channel featuring the original content provided by People and Entertainment Weekly will be featured through , PeopleTV (the Meredith-owned magazines outlet).
