Garmin launches new IFR-approved GPS navigator with LPV approach

Garmin International, Inc., the US based multinational technology company, has recently launched the new a new GPS navigator, GNC 355, with Localizer Performance with Vertical approach guidance, complete with a built-in Comm radio.

Apparently, with the new GNC 355, pilots can take benefits of WAAS/SBAS GPS guidance, as well as integrate a modern Comm radio into their current avionics stack. The GNC 355 Supplement Type Certificate is forthcoming and soon will be available from August at Authorized Dealers of Garmin for more than 700 aircraft models.

According to Vice President of aviation sales and marketing at Garmin International, Carl Wolf, based on renowned legacy products such as the GNC 250/300XL and the GX 60, as well as new products like GNX 375 and the GPS 175, the company has brought the new GNC 355 to market.

Seemingly, the GNC 355 provides customers an easy upgrade path to a GPS navigator with many capabilities including a modern Comm radio, wireless connectivity, WAAS/LPV approach guidance. Pilots can simply add the GNC 355 without an overhaul of their aircraft panel due to its standard mark-width form factor.

Sources mentioned that aircraft owners can simply integrate the GNC 355 into current avionics stack due to its standard 6.25-inch wide by 2-inch tall design. For the screen size of the display, the user interface has been enhanced and also retains a familiar menu structure like other Garmin products.

Pilots can rapidly access moving map, direct-to functionality, nearest, flight plan, waypoint, procedures, and terrain pages along with frequency information through touchscreen, and built customized data fields and short cuts for fast, one touch access to vital information.

Supposedly, additional interface options are pairing the GNC 355 with a dual- link Garmin Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast solution like the GDL® 88 or GTX™ 345. When matched with these products, the GNC 355 can display ADS-B traffic targets and subscription-free Flight Information Service-Broadcast weather, which integrates patented TerminalTraffic and TargetTrend.
