Boston-based venture capital firm Battery Ventures recently revealed to have acquired Goodfellow Cambridge Ltd., a specialty provider of superior quality materials for R&D, prototyping, and specialized manufacturing.
Goodfellow, based in Cambridgeshire, U.K., also has subsidiaries in France, Germany, China, and the United States to serve its global customers. It provides its services to advanced manufacturing, laboratories, government research centers, and top universities worldwide.
Goodfellow offers its clients high-quality raw materials and semi-fabricated components that fulfill the stringent quality standards for their research and specialty manufacturing demands, like new product prototyping.
It is to be noted that the global research and development (R&D) market is set to grow as the proportion of the total population working in engineering and research rises, resulting in more R&D activity and spending.
With the increase in global supply chain inspection of materials, businesses and laboratories have recognized the importance of working with a reliable partner to ensure the purity and exact features of the materials used in researchers' workflows and subsequently raised the importance of firms like Goodfellow.
The company entails over 700 distinct materials in various forms, including compounds, ceramics, alloys, composites, glass, metals, and polymers. Additionally, the organization offers customized services to its customers.
Battery Ventures General Partner Jesse Feldman reportedly stated that the firm looks forward to building on Goodfellow’s legacy and better serving its clients globally by expanding the company's international business and broadening its product offerings.
Goodfellow Sales Director Simon Kenney mentioned that Battery Ventures would contribute additional resources and extensive expertise in the industrial-technology market to help accelerate growth in the next chapter of its journey.
Battery Ventures has completed over 60 industrial-related deals across the United States and Europe since 2003. With this latest acquisition, the firm ventures deeper into the industrial-technology market, honing its market perspective with sector-specific research.
