BreachQuest secures USD 4.4 Mn to revolutionize incident response

Cybersecurity startup BreachQuest has reportedly amassed USD 4.4 million in seed funding from Tinder founders Justin Mateen and Sean Rad, Slow Ventures, and Lookout founder Kevin. The company is developing Priori, a SaaS platform aimed at modernizing incident response by automating end-to-end readiness and response capabilities.

The platform uses cutting-edge technologies to improve industry norms, such as an average breach taking 280 days to identify, 334 days to contain, and costing USD 3.9 million.

CEO Shaun Gordon mentioned that BreachQuest aims to provide unrivaled incident response while minimizing downtime and develop a comprehensive platform Priori, that will re-engineer the incident response process and usher in the future of incident preparedness.

Kevin Mahaffey, Lookout Founder, expressed that the most effective security businesses have embraced automation to protect against complex cyber threats. With Priori, BreachQuest is well-positioned to accelerate post-breach reaction and recovery so that enterprises can resume operations as quickly as possible, he added.

BreachQuest considers its leadership team's experience, including well-known cyber security specialists that have serviced 40% of the world’s Fortune 100 companies, to be its most competitive advantage. Jake Williams, a former NSA hacker, is BreachQuest's Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer. Williams previously founded Rendition Infosec, a cybersecurity firm based in Augusta, which was later acquired by BreachQuest.

Williams stated that it is surprising to realize that most of the coordination is still done with spreadsheets today. With spreadsheets, critical data takes time to gather and synthesize, resulting in significantly higher incident costs and unsatisfactory outcomes, he continued.

With the latest seed funding, the company would accelerate the rollout and development of its Priori platform, with plans to boost its forensic evidence collection processes and enhance response coordination across its different team members.
