Disneyland to reopen its flagship Disney resort for limited public

Following a shut-down of more than a year on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, Disneyland, popularly addressed as The Happiest Place on Earth, located at Anaheim, California, has finally disclosed its plans to reopen its doors.

As per sources close to the company, the flagship Disney resort, which is home to Disneyland as well as California Adventure, its sister theme park, will be reopened with a limited audience on April 30.

Ken Potrock, the President of Disneyland Resort, has cited this move as a most awaited day for the organization as well as the public. He also expressed excitement about having over 10,000 cast members back to work as the happy place looks forward to welcoming their guests.

However, the company mentioned that only residents of California would be allowed to visit the parks in view of the state health guidelines until further notice is rendered. Several safety measures, such as mandating masks for guests above 2 years of age, social distancing as well as the deployment of a new ticketing system for capacity management would also be taken up.

Disneyland's reopening is a major moment for the company as it attempts to rebound its hobbled business post the coronavirus outbreak.

Apparently, Disney's lucrative parks and resorts business was significantly hit by the pandemic. It also dealt a tremendous blow on the company's media empire with consistent delays in blockbusters.

The successive months of closure of Disney World and other Disney parks resulted in big layoffs for the company with the shedding of more than 32,000 employees. Also, Disney's resort unit comprised over 170,000 employees from around the world, although, the company has not yet released the updated number since the layoffs.

Sources have also revealed that Grand Californian, a prestigious hotel located on the Disneyland property would also reopen on April 29.
