Healthians, a home health test provider, has reportedly secured Rs.85 crore ($12 million) equity in a Series B investment round. The investment round was led by DG Daiwa Ventures and DG Incubation of Japan, with equal participation from companies like Trifecta and Kotak Private Equity from India, Tokio Marine and Mistletoe from Singapore. Mistletoe happens to be a venture that was founded by Taizo Son, the youngest brother to Masayoshi Son, founder of SoftBank.

Deepak Sahni, founder of Healthians stated that the firm will use these funds to grow into tier II-III cities, increase the number of services that are offered and add more technological capabilities. Sahni further added that the firm will boost the hiring of phlebotomists, a term used for people who draw blood, along with few more seniors to head the new offerings.

Based in Gurgaon, Healthians has nearly 650 employees currently. The company had raised nearly $4 million in its Series A round of funding in August 2016. It had initially secured $500,000 as seed capital in July 2015 that witnessed participation by YouWeCan, a foundation led by Yuvraj Singh, an Indian cricketer. Sahni has said that Healthians had secured a sum of nearly $10 million before the latest round was held.

DG Incubation’s Managing Director, Kenji Uehara commented that Healthians has a unique model as compared to the already existing diagnostic businesses as their expertise in technology helps them to deliver a safe and convenient experience to all the users. The tightly knit and competitive market is driven by such factors.

Apparently, the company runs its operation in over 30 cities. Healthians currently has 450 phlebotomists working and it aims to boost that number to 1,000 within the next 6-8 months. The company works with a team of trained and certified sample collectors for home collections and also tests these samples at the specialized Healthians labs.
