Hughes Network Systems, a renowned global leader in satellite networks and services, and Yahsat, a UAE based global satellite operator, reportedly announced the commencement of a JV partnership to deliver satellite broadband services across Brazil.
The new joint venture, established under the name, Hughes do Brasil, combines Hughes years of experience in conveying satellite services and networks in the country with Yahsat’s capabilities and strong position in the region.
Pradman Kaul, President at Hughes, reportedly stated that the partnership leverages the company’s commitment to bring underserved and unserved communities and businesses across Brazil various advantages of connectivity.
Masood Sharif Mahmood, Chief Executive Officer at Yahsat, stated that the tie-up with Hughes enables people in Brazil to realize social and economic benefits from high speed satellite broadband services of both Yahsat and Hughes. Mahmood further added that the company is looking forward to work with Hughes and deliver connectivity solutions to all its customers by leveraging the power of their combined missions and to grow business together in the forthcoming years.
The new strategic partnership was announced during the 2019 SATELLITE conference in Washington, D.C, held in May 2019. The proprietorship of Hughes do Brasil is 20% by Yahsat and 80% by Hughes.
Hughes do Brasil offers services over the Hughes 63 West satellites and Hughes 65 West. It would now offer services over the Al Yah 3 Yahsat Ka-band satellite. Moreover, the company would deploy additional JUPITER™ System network technology, delivering high efficiency services across the country, optimizing throughput and performance over the Yahsat satellite.
Hughes do Brasil services include Wi-Fi Hotspots that give affordable, pay-as-per-use internet connectivity to rural towns; cellular backhaul solutions that help MNOs (mobile network operators) expand their connectivity to communities and people across Brazil either underserved or unserved by terrestrial access.
The services also include all types of transport technologies, managed network services for enterprises and HughesNet®, the number-one choice for high-speed satellite internet for small to medium sized businesses and consumers.
