NORINCO’s CR500 helicopter drone passes final inspection round

According to credible sources, Chinese state-owned defense corporation, NORINCO (China North Industries Group Corporation Limited) has recently passed the final inspection round for its unmanned helicopter system, CR500 Golden Eagle.

For the record, the CR500 is a multipurpose helicopter drone system which can conduct missions such as battle damage assessment, communication relay, target positioning and battlefield reconnaissance. The device is equipped with a coaxial rotor and can operate in conjunction with infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery and tanks.

The ground control stations as well as mission payloads for the drone system have been developed by NORINCO, sources claimed. Moreover, the drone can carry large payloads and has a long endurance even when it is fully loaded.

Military experts aware of the development cited that the advanced features of the drone will offer great assistance to the armed forces during battle by expanding their situational awareness and assisting them with the location of their enemies.

NORINCO mentioned in a statement that the drone can resist strong winds, act as a logistic support craft, deliver materials with location accuracy, and carry different types of payloads and electro-optical pods. The compact structure of the system makes its transport as well as storage very convenient, the company added.

Reportedly, NORINCO believes that the CR500 can also be adopted for civilian use, including activities such as emergency rescue missions, fire safety on grasslands and forests, geological surveys and power grid and pipeline inspections among others. However, the company did not reveal the recipient or any potential clientele for the drone system.
