California-based healthcare technology company Omnicell Inc. recently announced to have opened a new software development center in Bangalore via its Indian subsidiary. The new center will focus on product innovation and further the company’s strategy of providing cloud-based infrastructure to support the vision of Autonomous Pharmacy.

For the unversed, Omnicell is a leading provider of adherence tools and medication management systems for pharmacies and health systems. The company has been helping healthcare providers to understand the benefits of autonomous pharmacy by replacing manual processes with automated workflows and intelligent technology.

The newly launched software development center will expand Omnicell’s product offerings by contributing to its suite of cloud-based software, hardware, and technology-enabled services, which will allow healthcare providers to boost human efficiency as well as improve quality while reducing costs.

This migration to a single cloud-based platform and integration of pharmacy systems should allow healthcare organizations to derive better results and navigate the difficulties of medication management effectively.

The development center will be led by Vice President, Software Engineering, Mr. Ved Singh who will bring 24 years of experience in creating products on cloud-based artificial intelligence platforms, mobile applications, and enterprise software.

Virad Gupta, the Vice President of Software Applications and Cloud Platform at Omnicell was quoted saying that the company looks forward to accelerating its cloud strategy and delivering software to support integrated solutions which will enhance patient outcomes and improve efficiency across the care continuum.

Notably, the healthcare cloud computing market has been witnessing stellar growth in recent years, driven by increasing access to machine learning, growing adoption of IT solutions, and rising use of cloud technology.

Given the vastly positive market prospects, Omnicell’s decision to launch a new software development center and expand its cloud-based portfolio should prove to be a profitable endeavor.
