OPUM, a medical device & AI company, and Thuasne Group, an orthopedic bracing manufacturer, recently signed a partnership to implement a digital solution for the non-invasive non-pharmacological treatment of osteoarthritis (OA).

The focus of the partnership is to digitally transform musculoskeletal care with objective data, defining the top treatment methods for osteoarthritis to enhance patient outcomes and minimize overall costs. The first product will incorporate the AI-powered Digital Knee care platform of OPUM with the Rebel Reliever osteoarthritis knee brace of Thuasne.

The technologies will combinedly deliver personalized exercises and behavioral therapies to the patients while facilitating remote monitoring, so doctors can deal with more patients with better quality of personalized care.

Thuasne Group’s Innovation Director, Matthieu Ducottet, mentioned that they are excited to announce the partnership with OPUM which will harness the power of their chief Rebel Reliever osteoarthritis knee brace and their trusted Townsend Motion hinge.

Integrating emerging digital solutions with cutting-edge technology is a stimulating prospect and they look forward to the upcoming opportunities, he added.

OPUM CEO Prof. Andrew McDaid stated that this partnership is an important part of their vision to deliver personalized musculoskeletal care to positively influence the lives of patients worldwide. Their solution covers the joint health continuum assisting patients and their providers, from the starting stage via optimally prescribed interventions to achieve their goals.

The Digital Knee Rebel Reliever is presently deployed at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (ranked #1 rehabilitation hospital in the U.S.) and other selected providers across the U.S. However, it is expected to be more commonly accessible in Q4 2021.

Founded in 2016, OPUM empowers patients, providers, and payers to overcome musculoskeletal health using its AI-driven platform that enables the delivery of optimal care in a scalable way to attain better outcomes and align with reimbursement.

Whereas, Thuasne, founded in 1847, develops and manufactures medical devices with a specialty in offering specific, adapted, and innovative health solutions in orthopedics, medical compression, home care, and sport.
