Senvion signs 80MW contract with Heritage Sustainable Energy in U.S.

Leading manufacturer of onshore and offshore wind turbines, Senvion has recently signed an 80 MW agreement with the Michigan based renewable energy provider Heritage Sustainable Energy, for the supply and delivery of Garden II. The first 20 MW is apparently confirmed, followed by a conditional 60 MW, while the agreement also includes a 21 year full service contract, reliable sources mentioned.

According to reports, the Garden II project is composed of 20 Senvion 4.0M140 turbines, with a hub height of 82 meters, and the first phase should be starting in 2019 with the second phase scheduled to commence in 2020. The project is situated in Delta County, Michigan and the state is supporting a tactical expansion of renewable energies, aiming for a 25% renewable energy goal by 2030.

Lance Marram, CEO of North America for Senvion, said in a statement that the company is enthusiastic about continuing to work with a respected partner like Heritage and aims to support Michigan's ambition to achieve their renewable energy objective through this project. He further says that a project like Garden II is a further validation of the fact that wind energy is cost-effective and competitive even in medium-wind regions.

Founder and Chief Executive of Heritage Sustainable Energy, Marty Lagina, stated that Heritage is optimistic towards expanding the business relationship with Senvion as the company has proved its reliability and proficiency as a long term partner for existing wind farms. He added that Heritage is confident that the next generation Senvion turbines will continue generating more electricity at lower costs which will be beneficial for both, the people of Michigan and the environment.

For the record, Senvion S.A., from Germany, develops, produces and markets wind turbines having rotor diameters of 82 meters to 152 meters with rated outputs of 2 MW to 6.33 MW. It offers project specified solutions in the areas of foundation, planning and construction along with turnkey, transport, installation, service and maintenance.
