Several factory workers file lawsuit against Tesla for racial abuse

Tesla Inc. is reportedly facing serious allegations of racial discrimination from many former and present employees, who have accused the corporation of failing to act on racist remarks and behavioral patterns prevalent on the production floor.

Sources claimed that this lawsuit in California court, which is the result of charges brought by more than a dozen staff members, is like the one before in which the company was ordered to pay USD 15 million to a former employee who won his case on nearly identical grounds.

This litigation focuses on blatant racial prejudice and racist conduct, primarily on the Tesla job site in Fremont. According to the lawsuit, in addition to statements with a sexual undertone that was particularly pervasive, terms like "plantation," "slavery," and even the racially abusing African American workers.

Moreover, it has also been stated that some of the employees were reduced to the ranks after taking approved leave to recoup from the Covid-19 infections. Interestingly, the newest lawsuit is among the slew of nearly10 filed against Tesla, even though the company, led by Elon Musk, has essentially dismissed most claims of impropriety.

Tesla has been chastised by critics for being a profit and volume-driven company that seeks to prosper at the expense of its employees. It is worth noting that Tesla is the world's largest EV manufacturer and far outnumbers the competition. The EV behemoth has recently launched massive production plants in Berlin and Texas.

At a time when the company has lofty goals of selling 20 million electric vehicles per year by 2030 and plans to increase production figures by a sizable proportion, putting enormous pressure on workers in factories around the world, such testimonies are likely to put a noticeable setback to its manufacturing capacity.
