Southwest introduces ten new routes in its summer schedule deployment

Southwest Airlines, a renowned American airline based out of Dallas, Texas, reportedly announced the addition of 10 new routes in its summer schedule deployment across a number of its busiest airbases.

The low-cost airline announced three new day-to-day routes starting from Baltimore/Washington (BWI) as well as other two starting from Atlanta (ATL) since the airline expanded its booking schedule till August 10. The airline would also add new routes particularly for weekends from Houston Hobby (HOU) and Nashville (BNA).

The company has also scheduled a nonstop flight from Kansas City in Missouri to Charleston, South Carolina only on Saturday. All the newly revealed routes would be seasonal.

The airline company’s novel service from Atlanta would be to Panama City, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina and Norfolk, Virginia. Southwest would compete directly with its ling-time rival, Delta Air Lines over all the three routes.

From BWI, the company would add new flights to Pensacola in Florida, as well as Tulsa in Oklahoma. The airline would provide daily service through all five of the routes initiating June 7.

These new destinations come at a time when Southwest increases its presence across both cities.

The company stated that at BWI, its summer schedule would grow to 248-weekday departures. This is the highest number of departures company has ever provided to Baltimore travelers. In 2018, Baltimore was the company’s fifth-busiest airport filled by passengers. In Atlanta, the company’s weekday schedule would increase to as much as 135 departures.

Elsewhere, the airline is adding five weekend-only routes in its schedule. These routes would be seasonal.

Three of those would come from BNA, where Southwest would start its Saturday-only service to Portland –Oregon and Maine both – and San Juan, Puerto Rico. New flights would start from June 13.

Along with all these routes, there’s also a new international route that would come from HOU (Houston Hobby). Saturday-only flights that would fly to Nassau located in Bahamas would start from June 13.

Also, the airline would add a Saturday-only new flight between MCI (Kansas City) in Missouri and CHS (Charleston), South Carolina.
