Synteract acquires Clindata to expand into South Africa & Asia Pacific

Synteract Inc., an innovative clinical research organization that supports pharma and biotech companies to bring new medicines to the market, has reportedly acquired the human health biometrics division of Clindata to satisfy market demand for adaptable biometrics services solutions.

For the record, Clindata, with offices in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Bloemfontein, South Africa, is a biometrics clinical research company delivering biostatistics, data management, and programming services across every phase of new drug development.

Sources claim that this acquisition would strengthen Synteract’s existing global footprint in South Africa and Asia Pacific. Meanwhile, Clindata’s veterinary division will be operating independently under the Clindata name while the Human Health Biometrics division will integrate with Synteract following this acquisition.

This move would further strengthen Synteract’s biometrics capabilities as part of its full-service integrated program; dedicated FSP solution or a separate biometrics service to augment consumer’s in-house capabilities.

Steve Powell, CEO, Synteract, said that technological advancements in biometrics are revolutionizing the ways in which clinical study data is integrated, collected, and analyzed. Rich patient data gives insights into progression and response of disease to researchers.

Powell added that this acquisition would add expertise to the company’s teams and enable them to offer global biometrics services covering every time-zone.

With a wealth of CDISC, biostatistics data management and SAS experience, the Clindata team have substantial experience in running Phase I-IV clinical studies across Synteract’s complementary therapeutic areas.

Theo Erasmus, CEO, Clindata, said that with combined biometrics capabilities, consumers will get benefit from a comprehensive service offering, integrating all data components from research and advice on study design, planning document to results interpretation and PK analyses in one integrated CRO. The company is pleased to collaborate with Synteract and establishing a high-class delivery team, said Erasmus.

Reports cite that the financial terms and conditions of the acquisition not disclosed by the companies.
