Voiceflow, a voice app design & creation platform, raises $3.5 million

Voiceflow is free for individuals and charges $29 per month in its paid workspaces.

The design and development platform for voice apps Voiceflow has reportedly raised $3 million in seed funding round led by True Ventures. Eventbrite founder Kevin Hartz, InVision founder Clark Valberg and Product Hunt founder Ryan Hoover participated in the funding round. Voiceflow has earlier raised $500,000 in pre-seed funding.

According to the Newpaper24, Voiceflow will use the funding to grow its team by employing more engineers and continue to develop the platform. The company has 12 members in its team to date.

Voiceflow has two basic block types which are “speak” and “choice”. The blocks can be organized using drag-and-drop to design the flow of the app. There is an advanced section for technical users to visually add variables and logic. The platform also has an API block for enterprise customers. They can integrate the API of the business into their voice app.

Reportedly, the original plan was to make the platform of Storyflow a “YouTube of voice” by which anyone would be able to build their stories easily. After the community of Storyflow got ahold of the platform, they just not wanted to use it to build interactive stories but also their own voice apps.

For the record, Voiceflow was officially launched in November. The platform has over 7,500 customers to date who have published about 250 voice apps using its tools.

Voiceflow is free for individuals and charges $29 per month for its paid workspaces. The business model of the platform allows teams to work together to build voice apps. The voice agencies with larger staff, including voice user interface designers and developers, linguists, can together work on one board, share projects and hand off assets more easily.

Voiceflow has initiated a program called Voiceflow University which includes video tutorials. It will later expand to become a more standardized training course, cite reliable sources.
